In the rapidly evolving landscape of Electric Vehicles (EVs), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) has become a critical milestone for product certification. This case study explores how VIIP EMC Lab partnered with a Tier-1 supplier to solve complex radiation challenges.
The client's automotive control unit faced significant hurdles during initial laboratory testing. Excessive radiation peaks were detected in the 30MHz - 1GHz range, far exceeding the CISPR 25 Class 5 limits. Failure to rectify these issues meant a complete halt in production and market entry.
Leveraging VIIP's advanced spectrum analysis, our technical team identified two key failure points: common-mode noise on high-speed data buses and switching noise radiation from the DC-DC converter unit.
By applying a combination of V180220T power cores and V18004 signal ferrites, we successfully suppressed the interference while preserving signal quality. The final test showed an 8dB margin, clearing the way for global certification.
